Wrinkling your lips during everyday activities, such as at least brushing your teeth, may seem like an insignificant habit, but in reality it affects the condition of the skin around your mouth. It is worth paying attention to this aspect of your care, as over time it can lead to facial wrinkles. 

How small habits can wrinkle your smile

Here are some examples of situations in which lip creasing can negatively affect our skin:

Often, in order to clean our teeth thoroughly, we involuntarily tighten the skin around our mouth. Repeated regularly, this action can contribute to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Although drinking through a straw is convenient, especially for people who want to avoid staining their teeth from tea or coffee, it requires tightening the lips. Regular drinking in this way can result in the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth, known as smoker's wrinkles.

The fashion of “duck face,” or deliberately puffing out the lips for photos, while seemingly harmless, also affects the elasticity of the skin around the mouth. Repeated repetition of such facial expressions can accelerate the aging process.

This is not about giving up expression, but about increased awareness of your facial movements. If you notice a tendency to overuse your mouth to emphasize emotions, it's worth working on controlling it.

To minimize the risk of wrinkles around the mouth, it's a good idea to incorporate a few simple steps into your skincare routine. Using lip balms, lip masks and moisturizers with collagen or hyaluronic acid will help maintain skin elasticity. In addition, regular facial exercises can strengthen muscles and improve circulation, which will further support healthy-looking skin.
